Fragmentation and granular transition of ceramics for high rate loading

چکیده
The paper presents a numerical model to study the transition of brittle materials from cracked solid granular medium under impact loading. addresses competitive crack coalescence in regime and provides insight into onset comminution initial conditions for subsequent flow. Crack statistics obtained flaws using wing growth-based damage have been used discretely elliptical cracks three dimensions. These discrete are either generated randomly space or with constraint that minimizes intersection between neighboring cracks. then allowed coalesce nearby along favorable directions output fragment predicted. A simple statistical is proposed suggests criterion resembling one model. Initial fragments power-law distributed similarly experimental observations particle-based models. generalized form microstructure-dependent based on threshold measure lengths has proposed.
